Legal Notices
Our legal notices, privacy policy, copyright, and cookie policy are outlined to ensure user awareness and compliance.
We’ve outlined our legal notices, privacy policy, copyright details, and website analytics so you know exactly how your information is handled and the terms for using our site.
Accessibility
We are committed to providing information that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. Our website aims to meet the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 and relevant Australian Government policies. We continually review and improve our content to enhance usability and accessibility for all users.

Clickstream data
Clickstreams are the paths a user takes when navigating a website and the internet in general. When you visit our website, our servers record the following information for statistical purposes:
- Your server (IP) address and machine name
- Your top-level domain name (for example .com, .gov, .au, .uk, etc)
- The date and time of the visit to the site
- The pages accessed and documents downloaded
- The number of bytes transmitted and received for each request
- The previous site or page visited
- Search terms used
- Your browser type
- The address of the referring page
NAIF examines this information to determine the traffic through the server and to specific pages or applications. To deliver better services, we also perform statistical analysis to establish priorities and allocate resources.
No attempt will be made to identify users or their browsing activities except in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect server logs.
The statistics and log files may be preserved indefinitely and used at any time and in any way necessary to prevent security breaches and to ensure the integrity of the information supplied by us.
Cookies
A cookie is a short piece of data that is sent from a web server to a web browser on the user’s machine when the browser visits the server’s site. The cookie is stored on the user’s machine, but it is not an executable program and cannot do anything to your machine.
Whenever a web browser requests a file from the same web server that sent the cookie, the browser sends a copy of that cookie back to the server along with the request. In this way, the server knows you have visited before and can coordinate your access to different pages on its website. A server cannot find out a name or email address, or anything about a user’s computer, by using cookies.
We use cookies to obtain session details for access to parts of our sites. Cookies are essential in providing seamless access to some online databases. Cookie information is not stored or collected by NAIF.

Unless some content on this website belongs to third parties (as explained in the section called ‘Third Party Copyright’), everything else on this website is Commonwealth copyright administered by NAIF.

You may distribute any copies of downloaded material in unaltered, complete form only (retaining this notice, and any headers and footers).
Apart from permitted uses under the Copyright Act 1968, and those explicitly granted above, all other rights are reserved.
